Artrice Woodard Jr

This week we have another great artist from the USA. Artrice Woodard Jr from Georgia.

Born in the 1950s', Artrice studied promotional& advertising design at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. He also studied sculpture and media- radio commercial scripting and production. His sculpture skills were used at a FORD dealership in Rockland County NY, where he used warm Chavant clay to mold aerodynamic bolt on customizing pieces.

These pieces were then reproduced from fiberglass molds and sold. His graphic design expertise was used at a prominent (now defunct) hotel in the Catskill Mtns. The Concord Hotel where he was responsible for varying convention graphics, and signage.

Later, he was employed with a local newspaper, The Times Herald Record until late 1999. Artrice started teaching at a nearby Job Corps facility working with disadvantaged youth. While there, he taught painting, drawing, ceramics, and assisted coaching the boys basketball team. This passion continues as he is employed by the City of Atlanta in an afterschool recreational program for kids, instructing painting and crafting.

The body of Artrices' work has impact in corporate, institutional, commercial, and residential areas, and some of his automotive art can be seen in these portals on Facebook: Traditional Motoring Artists Society Coach Building & Concepts Sketchbook Show your Automotive Art Auto Drawings Automotive Artists Automotive Artists Showplace Automotive & Transport Design and Motoring Artists Association.

Autoart by Jason Bylsma

This week's featured artist is from the USA . Enjoy . . .

Jason Bylsma is a freelance artist. He grew up in Severn Maryland and moved to Phoenix Arizona in 2000. He has always had a passion for drawing and appreciating cars. When he was young, he would travel to car shows with his Dad and Grandfather's 1938 Buick Century Convertible Coupe. During these car shows, Jason would draw in the rumble seat of the Buick.
Jason has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arizona State University where he majored in painting, drawing and art education. In his work, he strives to achieve the illusion of reality. His artwork is created by hand, they are not Photoshop creations. This is the method he has been perfecting all his life. Not only does the client see a realistic interpretation of his or her vehicle, they also acquire a wonderful piece of art to display.Jason’s still loves doing renderings, but his current focus is to try to create more artistic automotive art.He works in many different mediums including Graphite pencils, Colored pencils, Acrylic paint, Oil paint and water colors.
In 2010, Jason was represented by The Blink Gallery in downtown Phoenix. His artwork is currently in collections worldwide including RK Motors Charlotte, R.E. Olds Transportation Museum and the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Company Museum. Jason also does renderings for several local Hot Rod shops such as Charlie’s Garage, Drew’s Garage and Mods Hot Rods. He can also be found in Scottsdale Arizona every year at Barrett-Jackson in January and the Goodguys car show in March and November.
He is always open for commissions and really enjoys the personal connections.

Juan Méndez

Juan Méndez is another talented artist from Spain. This time from the beautiful Galicia region. Juan was borh on December 15th, 1972 in Ponteverde.
He started drawing young and he was very good at drawing portraits amongst other things. He collaborated with local magazines, schools and cultural programs by way of illustrations as well as murals.
He started university at 18 and studied Bachelor of Veterinary Science. That explains his full time occupation for the past 16 years as he is indeed a vet.
He became interested in motorsport in his teens, watching Formula One and a driver that impressed him most, Ayrton Senna.
He also has a great interest in photography and the great masters of speed caught his attention, especially Paul-Henri Cahier and his father Bernard. “I feel they have a unique way of capturing the speed” speaking Juan about the Cahiers.
Still, he was not drawing cars, but enjoying the thrills of speed he loved his car and motorcycles, until a life changing event made him re think.
He had a serious motorcycle accident which almost cost him his life and it probably would have done if it wasn’t for his brother, also an artist, being there with him.
Despite the accident his love for speed, cars and motorcycles grew bigger all the time.
A couple of years ago he decided to started drawing and painting, after many years.
He first started with portraits and animals (his passions) and commissioned work. A year later he was drawing cars and motorsport.
