Autoart by Saša Spasić

This week we have a very talented artist originally from the beautiful town of Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Born in 1984, Saša started drawing cars when was around three years old. This developed into him drawing more detailed images and they were also three dimensional.

At 8 years old he started to dream of the cars of the future. His first exhibition soon followed when he was just ten years old. This was held in Belgrade at the motor show, which was well received.

His passion was cars, but at school and college in Novi Sad, Serbia, he ended up studying Interior and furniture design. This was beneficial to him as he discovered new materials and colours which led to him make his fist realistic car drawing.

After his studies he moved to Belgrad and went to work in the food and restaurant business, his second passion. He had stopped drawing cars for a while.

Around 5 years ago he moved to Hamburg in Germany which was closer to his family and continued to work as a very successful manager of a high end restaurant, but he never gave up his true first passion of art and cars.

Addicted to cars, specially classics, Saša started drawing again and continues to this day with many projects and commissions.

He tries to depict a very realistic look and feel in his works as you will see below in some of the pieces he has sent to share with you.

For his work he uses Markers, Polychromos colors, Pastel colors and Acrylic on Bristolkarton, canvas and board.

His plan for the future is to own his own atelier and to be at various  International Car art exhibitions with his artworks.
You can see more of his work on instagram; Classiccardrawings_by_spasic and Facebook here.

The art of Ruben Badia

Today we feature yet another very talented artist from Spain. Ruben Badia. He was first featured in 2014, so we thought it was time to bring you some of his more recent work. Enjoy.

He was born in 1973 in Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain). "I love cars since I was a child" explains Ruben, the start of his passion.
His father had a car repair shop, so he was in contact with many types of cars from a very young age.
"I love painting and I´m autodidact" (he is elf taught) he explains.
He doesn't look at himself as a professional artist (although we believe he should) and he looks at his art as just a hobby. His dream is to be a professional one day.

He started drawing at a young age and gradually started to paint and add colours and more detail to his subject matters. His works are in acrylic. He loves classic cars, so that is all he likes to paint.

Although he has some of his work on display in a variety of places, his latest project will be on display in a Barcelona gallery as we write this feature.

You can see his work and follow him on Facebook here.

More of his work here and here.

We know you will enjoy his work, so here are some of his pieces he kindly sent to us to share with you.

Paul M Ellender

First featured in 2014, we catch up with Paul for an update on his work, more recent news as well as plans for the years to come.

Following the release of his first book ‘The Rallyist’ 2009, and the sequel ‘Rallyist-2’ a year later, Artist/ Cartoonist Paul M. Ellender, developed his artwork into the creation of Rallyist related Merchandise. A key factor in this development followed requests by Drivers and teams wanting to see their cars recreated in his unique Cartoon Style. Of equal influential as a result of his occupation as an Engineer /Business Improvement Specialist, was the use of his cartoons for visual management.
This was to find prominence in 2014 Paul was commissioned to create a Cartooned Safety Message for the Wales Rally GB that year.

Supporting the further promotion of the artwork, now under the Banner of Rallyist-Art, the Merchandise, Prints, Books, the development of his website, and the use of social media was very important.
This was also supported by The Rallyist Trade Stand. His little 4m x4m Marquee travelling the country showing off his range of art and related items at Race and Rally events.

Over the last two years the expansion of the trade Stand has taken a dominant position in the future of the Rallyist. It has always been an objective to display Rallyist-Art as it should be, In a Gallery.
With this in mind Paul would lead Rallyist Publications in a new direction to Build a Motor Sport Art Gallery and place it ‘Right Where It Needs to be’, at major Motorsport Events, Championships, Festivals, and Venues. Not a small task as it takes Paul away from ‘Just Drawing’, as he finds himself in a world of Crowd Funding and a search for funding. After all a 16sqm Trade Stand is one thing, a 120sqm Art Gallery / Theatre with a support Team of Managers, Site Crew, Logistics, is something quite different.

2019 will see the 10th Anniversary of The Rallyist & Rallyist Publications. The plan is to release a New Rallyist updated version of the Book with reworked Art and the launch of the Book at the Rallyist Motor Sport Art Gallery.
Who knows Paul may even finally finish ‘Too Much Speed, Not Enough Track, ‘ When the Rallyist
Goes Racing.

More about Paul on his website here.
You can also follow him on Facebook here.
Thanks to Lynn Ellender for the feature.

Bruce Tatman Art

First featured 4 years ago, here is an update on Bruce's work

Feature by Bruce Tatman,

“I guess growing up in the era of “Hot Wheels” cars made it easy for me to become a car guy, but I know for a fact the “Snake”& the“Mongoose” made me a drag racing guy!
Put these together with a love for drawing, a couple of older brothers that owned some nice muscle cars and I was set from an early age.

Eventually I went to art school for advertising and worked in that industry and screen printing as well. But my love for cars and racing never faded and eventually I found myself working almost exclusively with car and motorsports clients.

First in screen printing doing t-shirt designs, then I began to do more car graphics and logo designs.

As my love for painting grew ( mostly watercolors ) I started to do more original works of art for various clients in the racing industry and for over 25 years now my works have been featured by Don Prudhomme Racing ( yes the “Snake”!! ), NHRA, Don Schumacher Racing, John Force Racing, Paul Oxman Publishing along with numerous other sports and motorsports related clients, to include the private collections of players, drivers and owners.”

Bruce takes commission work and you can contact him by email at tatmanart@gmail.com

You can also enjoy his work and follow him on Facebook here.

Also here is the link to his work on Flicker.

Auto Art by Simon Britnell

Bio thanks to Historic Car Art

Born in Newark in 1964, Simon Britnell first became a freelance artist in the 1980s painting mainly landscapes, illustrations for publishing and pet portrait commissions. Although Simon dabbled in other careers and helped his father in the building of many local homes, his hopes to make a career from art remained.
Simon could see the future of his craft and soon diversified. As the game industry began to take off Simon bought himself an early home computer and taught himself the skills needed to produce digital images. The effort paid off and Simon achieved his first post as a Computer Games Artist in Lincoln in 1993.
When the opportunity to further his career came along, Simon and the family moved to West Sussex and soon joined Electronic Arts (EA Games UK) where he remained for 10 years, developing the technical knowledge required to produce 3D game environments working on many high-profile game franchises.
In 2008 Simon again evolved his skills by moving into 3D modelling and texture creation for film visual effects. Working in Soho, London and gaining credits on the films Narnia, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Harry Potter - The Deathly Hallows Part 1, Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time, Maleficent, Guardians of the Galaxy and Oscar winners for Best Visual Effects – Hugo and Jungle Book.
After a long commute and with children grown up, Simon found some time to return to conventional art. His career has allowed him to be creative but he enjoys the opportunity to simplify the process removing the technical nature of digital CGI work and returning with a kind of nostalgia to the pleasure of working “analogue” with paint and canvas.

You can also check a Q & A with Simon courtesy of Historic Car Art.
